Grammy Award-Winning Entertainer MC Hammer to Perform at Paragon July 3

paragon-mc-hammerMarksville, LA (May 27, 2015) With hits including Let’s Get It Started, 2 Legit 2 Quit, Addams Groove and of course, U Can’t Touch This, MC Hammer has enjoyed a long and successful career, spanning nearly 30 years. Hammer brings his eclectic show to Paragon, for his only scheduled Louisiana appearance this year, on July 3 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $35.00.

Hammer (born Stanley Kirk Burrell in Oakland, California in 1962) gained prominence in 1987 with his first album, “Let’s Get It Started.” That release was seen as a success with sales exceeding three million records. Hammer’s follow-up, “Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em” solidified his place in music history with a staggering 20 million copies sold worldwide.

A savvy businessman, Hammer forged sponsorship deals with Mattel, Toshiba, Taco Bell, KFC and Pepsi-Cola. His image and likeness were further etched into the pop culture psyche with “Hammerman,” a U.S. television adventure cartoon. Hammer pants, dance moves, jargon and glasses became part of everyday life.

Hammer has won three Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, The Peoples Choice Award, and the prestigious Billboard Diamond Award. While commercially a success, Hammer has stayed close to his roots with his “Help the Children Foundation.” He was honored with “MC Hammer Days” in both Oakland and Fremont, Calif.

After more than 20 years in film, entertainment, music and production, Hammer has turned to another communications channel. He is particularly interested in technology ventures, and is well known for his unconventional use of social media. His most recent video, Don’t Go, was initially released through a private-access Twitter campaign.

Tickets for MC Hammer are available at LA 1 Market, through Ticketmaster.com, or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000.
