Smoked Meat Prepared, Served at Market Place Buffet, Paragon Casino Resort
Marksville, LA (Nov 11, 2015) The Market Place Buffet at Paragon Casino Resort is offering an expanded menu featuring an assortment of freshly prepared brined, smoked meats on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, effective immediately.
Sous Chef Renaldo Clayton has designed the smoked meat recipes and menus. Clayton has worked in dining at Paragon since 1996, and has been at the Marketplace Buffet since 2010.
The select meats go through brining processes of up to nine days before smoking and grilling. “Our pork chops are marinated in a brine of apple, honey, brown sugar, herbs and spices for several days, and grilled to order in the Cajun Line as our guests observe,” said Clayton. “Our chicken, ribs, brisket, pork butts and loins are marinated in a different brine that is made with brown sugar, herbs, and spices. After that, we coat them with our special brown sugar and herb rub, and then we smoke them with our secret blend of hardwoods,” he continued. “They’re really delicious, if I do say so myself.”
Periodically, brined and smoked whole duck and boneless leg of lamb will also be available.

MARKSVILLE, La. (November 5, 2015) The publishers and editors of ConventionSouth, the national multimedia resource for planning events in the South, have announced that Paragon Casino Resort & Earl J. Barbry, Sr. Convention Center has been honored once again with a 2015 Readers’ Choice Award.
Paragon Casino Resort & Earl J. Barbry, Sr. Convention Center is among 180 convention and visitor bureaus (CVBs), meeting facilities and hotels located across the South to receive this year’s Readers’ Choice Award. Throughout the year, meeting professionals nominated the meeting sites they believe provide exemplary service for group events. The nominated sites are then compiled onto an online ballot where meeting professionals and fans are asked to vote for the best of the best. More than 5,000 voters participated this year in the selection process - the highest vote count ever recorded. Only 11 Louisiana meeting sites were selected for the honor this year.
Lafayette Woman Scores Big on Penny Jackpot
Marksville, LA (Nov. 5, 2015 ) A Lafayette woman playing penny slots on Halloween at Paragon Casino Resort walked away $21,162.95 richer.
Melissa B. had only been playing for about 20 minutes when the reels aligned. She had invested $150.00 in the 1,000,000 Degrees machine when she realized she had won big.
Melissa admits she was shocked when she realized the amount she’d won on the penny machine. “I thought, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe it’,” she said. When asked what she’d be doing with her winnings, she responded with a smile. “I’ll sure be having a great Christmas.”
More than $75,000.00 in jackpots has been paid out at Paragon in the past 30 days.
“Borealis- A Holiday Cirque” Coming to Paragon December 4, 5 and 6
Marksville, La., (Nov. 3, 2015) Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville, La. will present “Borealis- A Holiday Cirque” in the Mári Showroom for three performances, on Friday, Dec. 4, Saturday, Dec. 5 and Sunday, Dec. 6. Showtimes are 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a Sunday matinee at 3:00 p.m. Tickets start at $15.00.
Conceived and directed by Fernando Quevedo of Q Productions Las Vegas, the show follows the story of a young girl who is stranded in an abandoned warehouse during a snowstorm on Christmas. She meets Earl and Cordelia, who show her how magical Christmas can be. “There is nothing like it right now. The hologram system we use is second to none, the music is original and epic in scale, and the performers are at the top of their league,” said creator Quevedo. Part theatrical production, part visual spectacle, and part cirque artistry, the show is a unique tour de force that celebrates the magic of the holidays.
Louisiana Legends of Swamp Pop Revue Returns to Paragon Saturday, November 28
Marksville, La., (October 22, 2015) – Entertainers TK Hulin, Johnnie Allan, Tommy McClain, GG Shinn and Louisiana Express, Willie “Tee”, Warren Storm and Cypress return to the Mari Showroom for the Louisiana Legends of Swamp Pop Revue on Saturday, November 28 at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $15.
T.K. Hulin is a Louisiana musician whose career spans nearly 50 years. He became a regional hit in the 1960s with the songs “Many Lonely Nights,” “I’m Not a Fool Anymore,” and “Graduation Night.” Hulin is widely recognized as an influential figure in the swamp pop industry.
Johnnie Allan, a Louisiana native and pioneer of the Swamp Pop genre, began performing and recording in the 1950s at the age of 13. Since then, he has performed all over the world, and has released nearly 60 singles and 20 albums.
Cyber Quest Coming to Paragon Casino Resort
Marksville, LA (October 19, 2015) — Cyber Quest, a family-friendly arcade, is set to open at Paragon Casino Resort in November 2015.
Cyber Quest, the latest addition to Paragon Casino Resort, is a professionally supervised arcade offering the latest non-violent arcade games for guests of all ages. The 4,000 square foot space will feature more than 50 of the industry’s latest arcade games and attractions. Details: Meat Loaf comes to Paragon for one exciting show on Halloween night. Meat’s 1977 album Bat Out Of Hellhas sold more than 44 million copies worldwide, and remains one of the best-selling albums in the world to date. His 1993 album Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell produced the Grammy Award-winning song “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That),” which earned Meat the honor for Best Rock Vocal Performance Solo.
To date, Meat (born Marvin Aday) has also appeared in over 60 films and television shows, including The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Crazy in Alabama, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, Focus, Formula 1, Fight Club, House, M.D., Masters of Horror, Monk and Glee. He was able to combine his love of music and acting in a one-year Las Vegas residency that took audiences on a ride through his 44-year career. Marksville, LA (Oct. 13, 2015) A man playing a $10.00 Five Times Pay machine at Paragon Casino Resort won a $30,000.00 jackpot on Saturday, October 10th, marking the third large jackpot to be paid out at the casino in a week.
The guest, Doyle P. of Marthaville, Louisiana, had invested $100.00 in the machine over the course of an hour when he hit the jackpot.
Doyle knew immediately that he had won, but was pleasantly surprised by the amount of the jackpot. “I had no idea it was that much,” he said. When asked what he would do with the money, Doyle’s response was clear. “I’ll put it right in to my savings account,” he said.
Two other Paragon guests, who choose to remain anonymous, walked away with jackpots of $20,000.00 and $10,000.00 within the last week.

Paragon Presents “Mike Tyson: UNDISPUTED TRUTH” Friday, October 23

Marksville, La., (September 24, 2015) Boxing legend Mike Tyson is set to entertain audiences at Paragon Casino Resort on Friday, October 23, taking the Mari Showroom stage to present his one-man Broadway show, “Mike Tyson: UNDISPUTED TRUTH”.
Tyson tells all in this no holds-barred show, with stories of his hardscrabble beginnings in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, and his subsequent introduction to boxing through a stint in reform school. As he took to the sport, he also began to thrive in school. It was during this time that he was introduced to legendary boxing manager Cus D’Amato, who became more than a trainer to Tyson. D’Amato instilled in Tyson a discipline that helped him turn pro in 1985. One year later, at the age of 20, Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion in world history.
Tyson’s athleticism was undeniable, but some of his life choices were troubling. In the show, he publicly addresses both triumph and tragedy, in an articulate and often humorous manner.
Paragon Casino Resort Names Billy Hendrix Vice President of Food & Beverage
Marksville, La., (September 14, 2015) Billy Hendrix has been named Vice President of Food & Beverage at Paragon Casino Resort.
Hendrix returns to Paragon after seven years at Isle of Capri Casino Hotel, Natchez. While there, Hendrix held positions as Food and Beverage Director and Casino Shift Operations Manager. From 1999 – 2005, Hendrix worked at Paragon as General Manager of the Market Place Buffet and as General Manager of Roxy’s Diner.
